Due Diligence in East Africa
Due Diligence
The leading USA based Africa Fund retained EWHG to assist them in due diligence on the potential acquisition of a coffee house chain in East Africa.
Our Approach was to determine the “scalability potential” in East Africa for the restaurant concepts in their portfolio and evaluate the key obstacles that could potentially block future growth.
The assignment involved the following:
Assessment of Founder and Top Management capability and experience and the interactions between them
Review of operating and reporting systems as well as supply chain & restaurant construction
Review of human resources environment in terms of recruitment and legal issues
Analysis of trade area potential for the portfolio concepts
Review of menu relevance and pricing
The restaurant chain was successfully acquired in 2012 and is the leading western casual dining restaurant chain in Nairobi with expansion plans underway in other major cities of Kenya as well as neighboring East African countries.
